Out the gate, Genesis (KJV) tells us: 6 And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. 7 And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. 8 And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.
Then in Psalm 19: 1 {To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.} The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.
In Psalm 150: 1 Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power.
Ezekiel 1: 25 A voice came from above the firmament that was over their heads; whenever they stood, they let down their wings. 26 And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it.
Daniel 12: 3 Those who are wise shall shine
Like the brightness of the firmament,
And those who turn many to righteousness
Like the stars forever and ever.
